About Stok La Trek - Leh / Ladakh

The Stok La Trek is one of the very popular short treks in the leh / Ladakh region. While on the Stok La trek, trekkers go through the scenic valleys and pass through many traditional Ladakhi villages, and Buddhist monasteries. The trek takes you to Stok La, at an altitude of almost 4700 mtrs above sea level, from where there are excellent panoramic views of the Ladakh Himalayas, including the popular Stok Kangri Peak, which is at an altitude of over 6000 mtrs, and which is a very popular trekking peak in the Leh Ladakh region. The trek also gives you a chance to visit the Stok Palace, the former residence of the Ladakh royalty.

Accommodation on twin sharing Full Board Basis, except in Delhi where it is on bed and breakfast basis as mentioned above.
All arrival-departure transfers and land transportation using an aircon Car in Delhi and a suitable non-aircon SUV style vehicle in Leh as mentioned in the Itinerary
Sightseeing tours alongwith a local English Speaking Guide and including entrance fee to monuments as per the itinerary.
Complete trek arrangements with a cook, helpers, nice comfortable 2-men Alpine trekking tents, comfortable mattresses , tables/stools, toilet tents, kitchen cum dining tent (passengers should bring their own sleeping bags)

Day 1Arrive Delhi

You will be met on your arrival at Delhi International Airport and transfer to Hotel The Suryaa. Delhi, India's capital, and a city of over 15 million inhabitants, is where your holiday in India begins. Later combined sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi includes photo stop at the Red Fort, Friday Mosque - Jama Masjid, The silver street of Chandni Chowk, Photo stop at the India Gate, photo stop at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, The tomb of Emperor Humayun and Qutab Minar. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2Fly Delhi- Leh

After breakfast, transfer to airport in time to board flight for Leh. One of the highlights of a tour to Leh, are the maginificent views of the great Himalayan Desert that you see while the aircraft makes it’s approach into Leh airport. Met on your arrival in Leh and transfer to hotel Himalayan Heritage or Similar. Rest of the day at leisure to relax to acclimatize to the high altitude. Overnight in Leh.

Day 3Leh – Spituk – Zingchen (5 kms/ approx. 4-5 hrs trekking)

Transfer to Spituk village near River Indus to start the Stok la Trek. The trail this day crosses across the vast desert plains overlooking the Phey village. Arrive at the tiny village of Zingchen. Overnight at Camp (3360 m).

Day 4Zingchen – Rumbak (approx. 3-4 hrs trekking)

Today trek along a narrow mountain valley with a tiny stream following down to Zingchen village. The trek takes you ascending up slowly along the valley until you come across the village of Rumbak which is much larger than Zingchen. Rumbak is famous for spotting Snow Leopards during the winter months. Overnight at Camp (3700m)

Day 5Rumbak – Stokla – Stok (approx. 5-6 hrs trekking)

The last day of the trek takes you to Stok village crossing over the Stok La pass 4900 Mt. One can see the Stok range of peaks from Stok la pass, among which Stok Kangri 6120 Mt. Is the highest peak & quite popular among mountain climbers. After the pass, the trail descends down towards Stok village and end the trek at Gyab-Thago Family home in Stok. Check in at the family homestay for overnight stay. Evening free at leisure and experience a typical stay with a Ladakhi family in Stok. Overnight in Stok (3600 m).

Day 6Stok – Leh ( 17 kms /approx. 30 minutes)

After breakfast drive to Leh, en-route visit Stok Palace which is royal residence of the King of Ladakh and also visit their Royal Museum. Arrive Leh and check in at Hotel Himalayan Heritage or Similar. Afternoon free at leisure. Overnight in Leh

Day 7Depart Delhi

Transfer to Leh airport in time to board flight for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and connect further flight for onward destination.
